Short Science Fiction Collection 8 Comes to Wednesday Wonders!
10/28/2026
Wednesday Wonders opens LibriVox's Short Science Fiction Collection 008 on October 28th with “Circus,” beginning a ten-story collection devoted entirely to classic science-fiction author Alan E. Nourse
The future has a very long past—and Wednesday Wonders is heading back into the LibriVox archives to explore it!
Beginning October 28th, Wednesday Wonders presents LibriVox's Short Science Fiction Collection 008, a special collection devoted entirely to the work of science-fiction author Alan E. Nourse.
Across ten stories originally published between 1954 and 1963, we'll journey back to an era when the pages of science-fiction magazines were overflowing with strange worlds, startling technologies, alien encounters, distant futures, and new questions about where humanity might be heading.
Our journey begins with “Circus.”
Nourse was both a science-fiction writer and a physician, and his fiction became part of the extraordinary mid-century period when writers were exploring how rapidly changing science and technology might reshape human life. Now, through the work of LibriVox's volunteer readers, these public-domain stories remain available for new generations to discover.
So dust off the rocket ship, adjust the temporal coordinates, and prepare for another journey into science fiction's remarkable past.
Short Science Fiction Collection 008 begins October 28th with “Circus” on Wednesday Wonders, the award-winning science fiction and fantasy podcast hosted by the incredible Lothar Tuppan!
That makes this announcement much more interesting: we're not merely saying “here's another LibriVox collection”; we're effectively introducing listeners to ten weeks of Alan E. Nourse.

The Veil Is Opening: Jeffrey Billard Brings a Brand-New Series to Mutual!
10/09/2026
Jeffrey Billard has been on a creative tear, writing two complete seasons of The Veil Watch in less than a month. Now cast and recorded, the medieval mystery-adventure series is heading into production for Audio Groove Cats and the Mutual Audio Network.
Someone apparently forgot to tell Jeffrey Billard that writing an entire season of audio drama is supposed to take some time.
In less than a month, Jeff has written not one but two complete seasons of a brand-new original series, The Veil Watch. The episodes have already been cast and recorded, and work is now underway editing the adventures for release through Audio Groove Cats and The Mutual Audio Network.
And what exactly is The Veil Watch?
Step back into medieval England and meet Gautier de Lume and his companion, Sir Bastien “Bas” Mercier, two investigators accustomed to being summoned when circumstances become... unusual.
Sometimes the summons even arrives by moth.
Gautier is thoughtful, observant and determined not to confuse possibility with proof. Bas is rather more comfortable with armour, action and asking the question everyone else is thinking. Together they make an engaging pair, exchanging dry observations even as the mysteries around them become considerably darker.
The opening adventure, “Before the Veil,” begins with the suspicious death of Brother Oswin, a gifted illuminator who has fallen from a monastery scriptorium window. Everyone was present for a feast. No one saw what happened. One witness saw Oswin falling, but never saw anyone push him.
Then things become stranger.
A mysterious woman appears where Oswin fell. An arrow has been drawn in the earth. Another points toward a torn piece of vellum bearing three cryptic words:
“before the veil.”
Soon Gautier and Bas are searching through manuscripts, marginalia and the secrets of a dead monk who apparently noticed things other people overlooked. As one particularly memorable observation puts it, “the margins remember what the text forgets.”
The series brings together medieval mystery, character comedy and the suggestion that perhaps there are things in this world that reason alone cannot entirely explain.
Leading the cast are David Ault as Gautier de Lume and Andy Harston-Bowyer as Bastien Mercier, joined in the premiere by Rob Sogomonian, Ty Anderson, Sarah Davies and Bruce Mann. Jeffrey Billard writes, directs and edits the production.
Two seasons are written.
The actors have entered the Watch.
And somewhere beyond what we understand, the Veil is waiting.

A Classic Returns to Mutual Merch: Firefly: Old Wounds — Pony Express
10/06/2026 12:56:37
A piece of Sonic Society history rides again! Raymond Brown's winning “Pony Express” design from the original Firefly: Old Wounds T-shirt contest returns as part of the new Mutual Merch collection.
An old classic has returned to Mutual Merch!
Years ago, when Firefly: Old Wounds was making its mark in the world of fan-produced audio drama, we held a T-shirt design contest—and Raymond Brown rode away with the prize. His winning design, “Pony Express,” became a wonderful piece of Old Wounds history: a gleaming metallic Western-inspired emblem that looked especially spectacular against a black shirt.
Now the Pony Express rides again!
We've restored Raymond's original concept for modern printing and brought it back as part of the new Mutual Merch shop, giving longtime listeners a chance to revisit a little piece of Sonic Society history—and newer listeners a chance to discover it for the first time. Some designs deserve another ride.
Welcome back, Pony Express!
For the graphic, I'd use the restored Pony Express emblem itself rather than a screenshot of the shirt. We already have our high-resolution transparent master, so next we can make a lightweight MAN News/Image Resource version from that without sacrificing the original.

The Mutual Audio Network finally has a merch shop!
Welcome to Mutual Merch, a new place to celebrate the stories, shows, creators, and community that make MAN what it is.
Our new shop features original designs celebrating audio drama itself alongside artwork inspired by the shows and people who have helped build the Mutual Audio Network. You'll find designs celebrating The Sonic Society, Sonic Cinema, Biff Straker and the Spaceways, The Amigos Collective, and much more—with shirts, hoodies, prints, mugs, stickers, notebooks, and other goodies.
And this is only the beginning.
As more Mutualites contribute designs from their own productions, Mutual Merch will continue to grow. Our goal isn't simply to put the MAN logo on things. We want the shop to become another place where the creativity of the audio drama community can shine—and another way to support the artists who create it.
Listen. Create. Support. Belong.
And now, apparently, wear it too!

Wingman Takes Flight — And This Is Only the Beginning!
10/02/2026
As the first six-part Wingman serial approaches its conclusion, creator Jack J. Ward looks back at how a comedy screenplay became a 1940s-style pulp adventure — and opened the door to more than six planned serials featuring Ohio's Greatest Defenders.
When Jack J. Ward first came up with Wingman, it wasn't supposed to be a dramatic audio serial at all.
The original idea was a comedy film script, something reminiscent of the wonderfully over-the-top Batman of the 1960s.
But there was a problem.
Before Jack could properly make fun of these heroes, he needed to know who they really were.
Who was Wingman? Who was Flyboy? And how did these two become Ohio's Greatest Defenders during World War II?
Suddenly there was a backstory that needed telling.
Inspired by the great radio serials of the past, particularly The Adventures of Superman, and by the modern pulp-radio spirit of Decoder Ring Theatre's The Red Panda Adventures, Jack began writing what would become the first Wingman serial.
With a solid cast assembled and Scott Mosher taking on production and editing duties, the story grew into a complete six-part adventure.
Something else happened along the way.
Jack had long considered himself most comfortable writing anthology-style audio drama: tell the story, finish it and move on to something completely different. Writing an ongoing serial seemed like an entirely different beast.
Then the Ace Aviator of the Skies took over.
As the six episodes developed, so did the world surrounding them. New villains appeared. New story ideas suggested themselves. Characters opened doors to other characters, and one adventure began pointing toward another.
The pulp-loving kid who grew up fascinated by the heroes and cliffhangers of the 1940s had apparently been waiting for his opportunity to come out and play.
Now, as the first Wingman serial approaches its conclusion, it's clear that this was never going to be a single flight.
More than six complete Wingman serials are already slated, with new heroes, new villains and increasingly grand adventures waiting in the wings.
The first mission may be coming in for a landing.
But for Wingman and Flyboy, the adventure is just getting started.
Watch the skies!

A New Creative Collaboration for “Enchanting”
10/02/2026 15:45:52
Jack J. Ward’s romantic-comedy audio drama Enchanting has found a new creative home with producer Michael L. Stokes, producer of Ward’s Mark Time Silver Award-winning "Alone in the Night".
Sometimes a production just needs a little magic of its own.
Enchanting, a hopeful Valentine’s Day romantic comedy written by Jack J. Ward, encountered some production difficulties on its original journey to completion. Now, thanks to a wonderful new creative collaboration, the show is moving forward once again.
Michael L. Stokes, producer of Ward’s Mark Time Silver Award-winning audio drama Alone in the Night, has taken Enchanting under his wing and is helping bring this romantic comedy to life.
It’s always exciting when creative partnerships come together—and especially when old collaborators find something new to create.
With a little luck, a little magic, and perhaps a touch of enchantment, we’re hoping you’ll finally get to hear Enchanting before we celebrate another Valentine’s Day in 2027!
