The Roxy Regional Theatre in Clarksville, Tennessee, is seeking additional cast members for its upcoming production of A 1940s Radio Christmas Carol, a holiday musical that celebrates the golden age of radio broadcasting.
Directed and choreographed by Ben Liebert, the production takes audiences back to Christmas Eve, 1943, when a struggling radio company attempts to broadcast its own version of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol.
What begins as a familiar holiday story soon becomes a delightful mixture of backstage mishaps, live sound effects, wartime nostalgia, musical entertainment, and an unexpected film-noir detective adventure.
Three roles are currently being cast:
- Clifton Feddington: A veteran announcer from the original Mutual Broadcasting System, now hosting a popular private-eye radio programme.
- William St. Claire: An aging stage and screen performer portraying Ebenezer Scrooge, carrying the emotional weight of a personal wartime tragedy.
- Fritz Canigliaro: A sharp-tongued radio regular who portrays detective Rick Roscoe in the station's usual mystery programme.
The production is particularly interesting for audio drama enthusiasts because it recreates the personalities, technical challenges, and theatrical excitement of live radio broadcasting.
