In less than a month, Jeff has written not one but two complete seasons of a brand-new original series, The Veil Watch. The episodes have already been cast and recorded, and work is now underway editing the adventures for release through Audio Groove Cats and The Mutual Audio Network.

And what exactly is The Veil Watch?

Step back into medieval England and meet Gautier de Lume and his companion, Sir Bastien “Bas” Mercier, two investigators accustomed to being summoned when circumstances become... unusual.
Sometimes the summons even arrives by moth.

Gautier is thoughtful, observant and determined not to confuse possibility with proof. Bas is rather more comfortable with armour, action and asking the question everyone else is thinking. Together they make an engaging pair, exchanging dry observations even as the mysteries around them become considerably darker.
The opening adventure, “Before the Veil,” begins with the suspicious death of Brother Oswin, a gifted illuminator who has fallen from a monastery scriptorium window. Everyone was present for a feast. No one saw what happened. One witness saw Oswin falling, but never saw anyone push him.
Then things become stranger.

A mysterious woman appears where Oswin fell. An arrow has been drawn in the earth. Another points toward a torn piece of vellum bearing three cryptic words:
“before the veil.”

Soon Gautier and Bas are searching through manuscripts, marginalia and the secrets of a dead monk who apparently noticed things other people overlooked. As one particularly memorable observation puts it, “the margins remember what the text forgets.”

The series brings together medieval mystery, character comedy and the suggestion that perhaps there are things in this world that reason alone cannot entirely explain.
Leading the cast are David Ault as Gautier de Lume and Andy Harston-Bowyer as Bastien Mercier, joined in the premiere by Rob Sogomonian, Ty Anderson, Sarah Davies and Bruce Mann. Jeffrey Billard writes, directs and edits the production.
Two seasons are written.
The actors have entered the Watch.
And somewhere beyond what we understand, the Veil is waiting.

Jeffrey Billard has been on a creative tear, writing two complete seasons of The Veil Watch in less than a month. Now cast and recorded, the medieval mystery-adventure series is heading into production for Audio Groove Cats and the Mutual Audio Network.

Someone apparently forgot to tell Jeffrey Billard that writing an entire season of audio drama is supposed to take some time.
