The Dead Line
Every Call Has a Secret. Every Secret Has a Price.
A telephone rings.
Somewhere, someone is speaking. Perhaps confessing a terrible secret. Perhaps arranging a crime. Perhaps making the last call of their life.
And somewhere else, someone is listening.
Welcome to The Dead Line, an original anthology of crime, mystery, suspense, and psychological thrillers from Sonic Cinema Productions, created by Jack J. Ward.
Inspired by the great traditions of radio suspense and television anthologies such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Dead Line explores the darker corners of human nature, where ordinary decisions can lead to extraordinary consequences and the distance between innocence and guilt is sometimes no greater than a telephone wire.
Voyeurs of the Wire
Every episode begins with a mysterious, unidentified narrator who seems to inhabit the telephone network itself.
He knows things he shouldn't. He hears conversations never intended for strangers. And he invites listeners to share his peculiar fascination with the secrets, weaknesses, and moral failings of others.
As the series introduction warns:
You can't help but listen when you pick up the receiver. Voices as close as a heartbeat, as near as your neighbour, as distant as the grave.
From there, each story opens another line into the unexpected.
An off-duty police officer answers a ringing telephone and finds himself drawn into a deadly game of deception. A man returns from a family weekend to discover that the messages waiting for him conceal a horrifying chain of events. Elsewhere, seemingly ordinary people find themselves confronted by choices that expose the darkness beneath everyday life.
These are stories where listening can be dangerous, where good intentions offer no guarantee of survival, and where the truth may arrive far too late.
Original Stories. Uncomfortable Questions.
Unlike traditional detective fiction, The Dead Line does not always promise justice, redemption, or even a satisfactory explanation.
Its stories explore ambition, betrayal, obsession, violence, guilt, and the unsettling consequences of human choices.
The narrator introduces each tale with his own observations and frequently returns afterward to examine its moral implications. But he rarely offers the comfort of an easy answer.
Instead, he leaves the final judgment to you.
All episodes feature original scripts developed for Sonic Cinema Productions, ranging from classic crime mysteries to darker, more mature psychological thrillers.
Created by Jack J. Ward
The Dead Line was created by Jack J. Ward for Sonic Cinema Productions, drawing inspiration from classic radio thrillers, the suspense traditions of Alfred Hitchcock, and the unique intimacy of audio storytelling.
In a medium where every whisper can become evidence and every silence can conceal a terrible truth, The Dead Line turns the simple act of listening into an invitation to witness the unexpected.
Pick up the receiver. Hold your breath. Listen once more.
